Job Summary: As the Head of Data Protection, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of data protection and privacy compliance within organization. Your primary focus will be to establish and maintain effective data protection policies, practices, and procedures to safeguard sensitive customer information and ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement comprehensive data protection policies and procedures in alignment with local and international data protection laws and regulations.
- Ensure that data processing activities are conducted in accordance with applicable data protection standards, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to conduct data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and ensure data privacy considerations are integrated into all business processes.
- Oversee and provide guidance on data subject access requests (DSARs) and data breaches, ensuring timely and appropriate responses.
- Monitor changes in data protection laws and regulations and update company policies and practices accordingly.
- Conduct regular data protection training for employees and raise awareness of data privacy principles throughout the organization.
- Act as the primary point of contact for data protection authorities and ensure timely reporting of any data protection incidents or breaches.
- Conduct internal audits to assess data protection compliance and work with teams to address any identified areas of improvement.
- Collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to implement necessary technical measures to enhance data protection and security.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in data protection management, preferably in a retail or consumer-oriented organization.
- Strong understanding of relevant data protection regulations and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
- Certified Data Protection Officer (CIPP/E, CIPM, or equivalent) credentials are highly desirable.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills to guide and mentor a team of data protection professionals.
- Highly analytical with the ability to assess and mitigate data privacy risks effectively.
